Found a few hours before we had to head back to reality the morning after my birthday.

This is my “But, Moooooom I don’t wanna go to school” look.

Fine, ok… we’ll go sunbathing, I guess.

Alright, alright, view’s not so bad.

Nothing to see here, not much else to do with just a coupla girls, a pool, and a camera.

Hi suckers.

Blinded by the November sun. I know, boohoo, right?

No fun at all.

ROUGH LIFE.

Happy Monday to you, too!

While you’re probably gearing up for American Thanksgiving, I’ve already had a Canadian Thanksgive’r.
Luckily, I was back home in Toronto in October with so many of my precious babies so I had much to be thankful for.

Little lady bird, Emma.

We wanted brunch and beautiful men. Where else would you go but the gaybourhood?
The food and the patio view at Fire on the East Side was heavenly.

Though, I think these two were already gonna lead me straight there. Trudy Patootie and Candy baby.

Smoked salmon benedict. They serve you banana bread to begin with, and what makes this benedict so scrumptious is the corn bread it’s lain on instead of a crusty English muffin.

Stuffed french toast with cheescake and berry filling. Sausages on the side.
Took the ferry to see the island and show these one and a half American girls what Canada looks like by the water.

This is how we rock it in the T-dot.

Went exploring and sighing at all the charming little island cottages and hiked on a nature trail. Much needed break from all the chaos.

Made us tired and hungwee. Which was juuuuuust right cuz it was my annual Orphans’ Thanksgiving Dinner night!!

Passing on the tradition of turkey dinner at Sneaky Dee’s that I’ve had for the past 5 Thanksgivings!

At first they thought it was just some bullshit grimey dive bar until they finally tasted the meat, tater, and gravy feast.

Way better than their aunt so-n-so’s, I hear.

Also, snickers pie.
So yea, thank you, thank you, and thank you, too!

On the 8 digit palindrome that was my 26th birthday, I had a flight from LAX to JFK. Against my ideal intentions, I did not get on that plane. Luckily, I have the best friends in the world so my day turned out from bummer to stellar.
Bouquet of flowers sent to my office from Masha all the way in Toronto! Lovers you forever.

My new whiz kid assistant brought me a red velvet cupcake with a champagne bottle candle. So adorable.

I once read somewhere that it’s important to travel on your birthday. I think you’re supposed to go to some crazy different time zone to change the course of your life or some shit but I couldn’t go that far. Instead, I went on a spontaneous birthday adventure into the desert with Destinee, my lesbian lover for the day.

Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. We were made fun of on the ride over for going to hipster’s paradise.

Can you blame us?

Had our own private little patio.

It said MAKE FIRE and so we did.

Diner dinner

I got my very own one*Z from Destinee. It happened to be Palm Springs gay pride week so we got so many omgcutejumpsuitswheredyugetits. Figured it was the perfect time for us to get away with wearing matching adult onesies around town.

Elephant in the room.

Red velvet cupcake #2! I was like “My favourite!” and she said “Yes, I know, I read your blog.” See guys? There’s a good reason for everyone to keep a blog. So people know your favourite things and them GIVE THEM TO YOU.

I LIKE YOU!

Midnight dip time

Pool for just us two and the stars. Perfect.

My Asian mother has this tradition of calling me – regardless of where I am in the world – whenever it’s November 2nd, 11:24pm in Hong Kong. The precise time that I was born. Although, being Chinese, she never liked the number 4 and I swear she always told me I was born at 11:23pm.
She’ll retell the story. How much it hurt. How they dangled me by the neck like a pterodactyl cupping its prey above her.
How wet
and ugly
I looked.
They gave me a bath, combed my hair swept all the way to the side, and returned me.
I looked more acceptable then.
Except for my nose, nostrils facing the sky.
I was born on a Saturday night.
Thank you, 媽咪.
I love you.

Sometimes by Britney Spears, anyone?

Y’know…

Sometimes I run

Sometimes I hide

Sometimes I’m scared of you

But all I really want is to hold you tight

Treat you right

Be with you day and night
Baby, all I need is time.

Drove from the East side through Malibu Canyon to Paradise Cove so we could dip our toes in the sand.

Yea, beach stuff!

How does the pianist get up there?

Shrimp, spicy calamari, and beef tacos! I know how when you’re by the sea, you feel like the fish taco is the way to go but the beef one beat out all the others here. Marinated in sweet barbecue sauce. The rest of the food was meh-er than meh, but we really came here for the beach not brunch.

Halloween pumpkin friend

We’re living a real life Corona commercial

Rough life around these parts

Was wearing a tee and jeans to the beach. Bad call. Turned the tee into a makeshift toga.

Destinee, what a dream girl.

Paint dabbled belt

Most Californian Canadian I know

Yes, we came all the way out here just to sit in the sun. Total beach bums, such bliss!
I guess LA ain’t so bad.
Wish you were here.

Found these on my blackberry. One of my last (really very intoxicated) nights in Manhattan.
Jumped and hopped from Le Bain to Boom Boom Room with my son and a baby Gaga.

I woke up in a Tribeca loft, snuggled next to an iPad and six pillows.
There was an invite to the Hamptons, but I had a plane to catch.
Oh New York, New York.

L’Avenue down the street from our Montreal apartment had a serious line outside every single day for brunch. So naturally, we had to join the sheep herd and try it for ourselves.

Record label menus.

Reunited! M&Ms, Marissa and Maria.

Another favourite ‘M’ of mine, Mimosa.

This is what I ordered. The mushroom thing. I can’t remember what’s it’s actually called on the menu because my memory in French isn’t as good as it is in regular human.

Everything was in huge portions! And my god. The fruit skewers… so good! The taters, not so good. Bit too heavily greased and seasoned. Eat those last if you have the room.

L’Arc-en-ciel. Smoked salmon benny.

Wisconsin, Paris, and DC in the house! Kelly, Christophe, and Reyhan.

The Mediterranean. I ordered this the next time – usually comes with feta. Eggs, tomato, spinach, and cheese. So fresh ‘n so good. Line up is well worth it!

I love Toronto

even when it’s cool and crisp. Babes will still be bicycling, beers will still be patio drunken, sunnies sported like Summer’s still squeezing out some rays.

I love that everyone loves the weird shit that they love, so hard.

Like I love you,

all day breakfast, and

Toronto.
