Each, an opposing hero
If you’ve already read one
Would you really buy the other?
This was my last day of freedom in the land of the free and the home of the Barbaro. Such a handsome boy.
Labour day weekend of backyard beers and buddies.
Under lemon trees
In comfy one*Zs
Swinging chairs, swaying palm trees
In a tub with a pretty lady.
Super star stellar. Miss you, sunshine.
I’ve left LA and it’s been can’t-stop-won’t-stop since we’ve come to Montreal.
Taking a brunch and free wifi break to finally update!
Our flight was delayed for 3 hours and luckily my favourite restaurant in LA, Kanpai, is just a few miles away from LAX. Usually the manager, Peter, or at least Tony would order all my faves for me. Since I had no clue what they were called I ordered “Omakase” – chef’s choice!
Here are the sashimi masterpieces the chef made for me!
Monk fish liver with caviar.
Jellyfish in vinegar.
Seared toro with truffle sauce. Octopus on the left.
Albacore and fig wrap in basil sauce.
Bonito in radish sauce.
Rainbow salmon with papaya.

Tony and Etienne already had brunch so while I had eggs, they had tiramisu.
I just love looking at these baked good beauties.
Eclairs. Don’t those Raspberry cake domes look perfect for Chrimbo?
Oh man, marshmallows and fruit tarts. Kryptonite.
Loveliest little box. I’d rather get one of these than a Tiffany blue one, honest.
I chose the Salted Caramel, Raspberry, Earl Grey, and Grand Cru macaroons. I recommend the salted caramel and earl grey ones. They’ve got nice counter flavours to balance out the sweetness.

Do you have a happy place? Y’know like whenever you feel sad, and you enter your favourite space and instantly you feel a little better? Well, it was the afternoon after Jack Layton’s state funeral. Puffy eyed and and in need of a pick-me-up, I headed for brunch at my happy place in LA, Bottega Louie.
Even though it’s in downtown Los Angeles and not Manhattan, it’s exactly the kind of place I had imagined Carrie Bradshaw and the girls would brunch at when I was an early teen.
Everything is so whimsically beautiful! Le sigh*
Ms. Etienne made it to America!
Orange eyeliner, as much orange in my outfit as possible in memory of JACK!!
Pink salt! How darling.
Smoked salmon eggs benedict, of course.
Tony is smiling even bigger than when we had brunch at Home. See what I mean about my happy place?
Will post our desserts tomorrow. Come back, or subscribe to my feed!

Day trip to Vegas! Went back since everyone was in town for Project and Magic. Got up bright and early with the sun. Then we figured out the blackout curtains. Bliss!
Got triple booked for dinner trying to fit in plans to see all of my friends from the East coast.
Vanity shots while waiting for an executive decision, haven’t worn a full face of make up in a long time. Gotta fit in in Sin City.
Heirloom Tomato Bufula Mozzarella
Rigatoni Sausage Bolognese
Steak. Their chimichurri was sooooo delicious. Put that on everything.
Miss you so hard, Susie!!
